Introducing the M-1 Synth Pack For Nord Stage 3

The iconic Minimoog synth, emulated perfectly for the Nord Stage 3.

The Minimoog* was one of the first affordable and portable synthesizers on the market. Released in 1971, the Minimoog had a thick-sounding filter that became the signature sound of all Bob Moog’s future synthesizers. Hundreds of artists used the Minimoog’s unique sound for basses, leads, and more over the years, including Stevie Wonder, Rick Wakeman, Herbie Hancock, Abba, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, and many more. 

The Process

The design process on this synth was less than linear to say the least. Here’s how the process went down:

1. We borrowed a Minimoog then started sampling.

2. After loading the samples, we realized that the Nord Stage 3’s internal oscillators, when tweaked the same way as a Minimoog, sounded so close we couldn’t tell which was which in a blind test (whoops!) 

3. We removed the samples, and started programming using just the Nord Stage 3’s synth engine and effects. 

4. We designed roughly 150 patches, removed 50 that didn’t make the cut, and released the pack. 

The end result is authentic vintage analog vibeyness, perfect for taking into the studio or on stage. Best of all, since the pack uses only the Synth Section’s built in oscillators and filters, so there’s no samples to download or take up room in your sample library.

I’ve designed a range of synth presets and programs to use, bringing the total file count in this pack to 150 items. Categorized synth presets allow you to quickly bring the sounds from this pack into any program with the twist of a knob, and the program files offer a complete patch for playing live.

The M-1 Synth Pack runs great as a standalone pack (meaning you can load it in any Nord Stage 3 and instantly access the sounds), but it works great as an expansion pack for the Worship Collection, too.
